Super Eagles of Nigeria will kick off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt against debutant Burundi as they were drawn together with Guinea and another debutant Madagascar in Group B of the tournament on Friday in Cairo.
Nigeria, who missed the last two editions of the tournament are drawn in a group regarded as relatively easy compared with Group D that has Morocco, Cote d’ Ivoire, South Africa and Namibia.
Group A teams are Egypt, Dr. Congo, Uganda and Zimbabwe, while Group C teams are Senegal, Algeria, Kenya and Tanzania. Tunisia top Group E and will play Mali, Mauritania and Angola. Group F is topped by defending champions, Cameroon who have Ghana, Benin Republic and Guinea Bissau to contend with.
The 32nd edition of the AFCON will kick off in Cairo on 21 June with the host country, Egypt playing the opening game against Zimbabwe. The tournament ends 19 July.
It is the biggest AFCONyet, with 24 teams, and the first to be held in Europe’s summer rather than January or February.
