Two persons were on Monday confirmed dead after a fresh attack in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
The development has reportedly caused tension in the area.
Our correspondent learnt that the victims identified as Mr Raphael Ezra and Daddy Riti were killed on Sunday night at Kangboro village while returning home.
The President of Irigwe Youth Movement, Mr Chinge Dodo, confirmed the killings in a statement on Monday.
He said the killing of the youths was the latest in the series of attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the area.
According to him, the gangsters have killed no fewer than eight people in the community in the past two weeks.
Dodo said, “We are worried over the resumption of the killing of our people.
“In the past two weeks, four Irigwe people have been waylaid and killed by herdsmen.
“Last week, one Mr Tana of Geh village was killed on his farm. Emmanuel Gado, 33, an Irigwe youth and a resident of Gidan Ado village in Ganawuri Chiefdom was killed.
“At about 8pm on Sunday two Irigwe youths – Raphael Ezra and Daddy Riti – were killed.
“We call on our people to be vigilant as our attackers seem to be changing tactics; they now kill our people after ambushing them.”
Efforts to reach spokesman for the police in the state Mathias Tyopev were not successful.
