Over whelming crowd of Anambra residence yesterday shun Ohanaeze’s directive, troop to welcome the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nanmdi Kanu, in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra state.
This came few days after the President general of Ohaneze, Chief Nia Nwodo, at Anambra House of Assembly openly condemned Biafra agitation and Kanu’s order to boycott upcoming Anambra Governorship election.
Recall that Kanu had ordered the people of Anambra to boycott the upcoming governorship election and subsequent elections in the entire Biafran-land unless date for a referendum is given.
Nwodo who responded to Kanu’s position said that Igbos were for restructuring not for the break up of the country, saying that Igbos had more stake in Nigeria than any other tribe.
Kanu’s massive welcome by Onitsha residence yesterday appear to undermine the position of Nwodo and the Igbo leaders who met in Enugu last week.
Kanu’s remarks yesterday debunked recent media reports which quoted him as saying that he had listened to advice and had now agreed that IPOB members would participate in the November 18 governorship election in the state. Click to watch video.
