The Arewa Consultative Forum has criticised the Chairman of The Patriots, Prof. Ben Nwabueze, for alleging that President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption war is aimed at Islamising Nigeria.
Nwabueze had reportedly said on Thursday that the appointment of northerners as heads of major security agencies and other strategic positions, including the military, police, customs, secret service, among others, was part of the President’s alleged northernisation agenda.
But the ACF, in an interview with our correspondent, said “a Nigerian of Nwabueze’s status” must refrain from dwelling on issues that could divide the country.
According to the Secretary General of the forum, Anthony Sani, Buhari may have his shortcomings, but he means well in trying to ensure order, justice, liberty, peace and prosperity in the country.
Sani noted that in a democracy, not only is there a need for opposition, it must be constructive for the country to move forward.
Sani said, “I do not believe the respected professor can make such claims, considering the chiefs of defence staff and naval staff are not Muslims.
